he Navy Yard located in the Municipality of Itaguaí-RJ, for the construction of the four conventional submarines and one with nuclear propulsion foreseen in the Submarine Development Program (Prosub), is an unprecedented development in Brazil, whose technical and constructive characteristics challenge the ‘State of the Art’ of national engineering. Together with Odebrecht Infraestrutura, the company responsible for the execution of the Prosub-EBN facilities, the companies that supply the goods and services that are contracted by Construtora have extensive technical knowledge and extensive training in their respective areas of activity.
The main building of the submarine construction site, which is part of the Shipyard and Naval Base complex of the Brazilian Navy, was calculated by the founder of Pedreira Engenharia, Fernando Pedreira, and is the most important installation of the project. It is 35 meters wide and about 50 meters high. It supports four cranes, 2 of 30 tons and 2 of 150 tons. It will provide technical and industrial resources that will allow the manufacture of five submarines, four of which are conventional and one with nuclear propulsion. The Construction Shipyard received investments of about R $ 9 billion and is part of the Submarine Development Program (Prosub). It is expected to finish its 22 thousand square meters of works by the end of 2015.
